The purpose of fire doors in all cases is to allow safe egress from a space, automatically closing when necessary, shielding escape routes from the adverse impacts of fire, which encompass smoke, gases, and flames.

Additionally, fire doors may serve to limit the supply of oxygen, potentially curbing the fire’s ability to spread rapidly.

Fire doors should undergo inspection at a minimum interval of every six months. However, if the door is located in a high-traffic area or experiences frequent usage, it is advisable to conduct more frequent checks, as signs of wear and tear may manifest sooner with increased use.

At Rix we can assist with a wide range of standard and specialist fire door solutions, including timber, metal, and composite door replacement, servicing, surveying and periodic inspection plans for our clients, whilst operating in strict accordance with under our IFC certification and using only competent and trained operatives to carry execute the works.
