Compartmentation Surveys
A fire compartmentation survey examines all aspects of the fire compartmentation in greater depth than a fire risk assessment would. A fire compartmentation survey is a visual and if required, destructive examination of every section of a building to determine how effectively it can assist delay the spread of smoke and fire for the required duration of time and the general condition of the building’s fire compartments. The objective is to assess the degree to which escape routes are protected and fit for purpose, protecting the occupants and responsible persons.
This includes fire doors, walls and floors, flexible and rigid barriers within internal roof spaces and other cavities such as raised floors and other voids, such as external barriers.
